Represent NHS Blood & Transplant campaign

1) What does BAME stand for?

Black, Asian and minority ethnic

2) Why is there a need for blood in the BAME community?

there is not enough black and Asian donators and they have a rare blood type . they havea special bloodtoo.

3)What does this advert want people to do once they've seen it (the 'call to action')?

try to share it and tell there friends, family and themselves to share blood and give their blood  and that many people need it.

4)Why is the advert called 'Represent'?

so you share it and 'set up and #represent ' they want people to represent. also it is represented for BAME community.

5) Why have the producers chosen famous BAME celebrities to feature in the advert? Give an example of three well-known people who appear in the advert and why they are famous - make sure you write their names and spell them accurately.

so many people are going to pay attention and get more views from the advert and its more likely that  people might listen to it and do what its told  , it will definitely get more attention if the person is known rather than a random person , also their fans will watch the advert too. there is lady Leshurr and Mariah Idrrisi and Nicole Adams.

6)What are the connotations of the slow-paced long shot of empty chairs at the end of the advert?

There are 3 chairs to emphasise/symbolise the 3% of blood donors who originate from the BAME community and that  Asians and black people should donate and give there blood away more and they need the blood to help people out, it is claiming that if more people do not give blood the result is death. also it may show that 3 empty chairs means more and more missing and dying people from blood loss and that only 3% is helping which is not good enough.

7)How does the advert match the key conventions of a typical urban music video?

there is many people shown in the video at different places but also the main and most used is a roof top of a building is where the advert was made . mostly Asian and black people are in the advert.

8) How does the advert subvert stereotypes? Give three examples (e.g. ethnicity, masculinity, femininity, age, class, disability/ability etc.)

its mostly directing it for younger people and its directed for an Asian and black people. and the BAME community for young age people. it can be for any class and mostly middle class and could be higher class as celebrities can give their blood too.

9) How does the advert reinforce certain stereotypes of the BAME community? Could there be an oppositional reading where some audiences would find this advert offensive or reinforcing negative stereotypes?

there is an oppositional reading that it could be racist as its targeted fro black and Asian people . these people might get offended by it an d also how they chose famous people and celebrities that are black and Asian people which might show that they could only be popular for music and art and only can be shared in the media for their success and their good work.

10)Choose one key scene from the advert and write an analysis of the connotations of camera shots and mise-en-scene (CLAMPS).

the empty chairs tells people that there is only 3% and its targeted for only BAME community which might offend them .
