Learner response - blog tasks

 1) Type up your feedback in full - WWW & EBI. You do not have to write your mark and grade if you don't want to.

WWW- Lots of good media language analysis and great to see extended responses in real detail.
EBI- revise narrative theory and social class.
- exam technique: answer the question! must focus on key wording in the question.
Grade 5

2) Look at Question 3 in the assessment - the media analysis of the Under Armour advert.
Use CLAMPS to revise mise-en-scene and write about each element of CLAMPS for the Under Armour advert.

C - The player is wearing red and black rugby kit which is a under armour shirt, shorts and shoes to show off the brand and to clear for us how the advert is targeted at the under armour brand. the red rugby shirt clearly cannotates that the man has strength and that he is strong as the fire and he has so much power as also how the clear logo on the shoes suggests how the under armour brand is helping and giving him all the power and pushing him forward.

L-  Lighting: The stadium floodlights tell the audience and showing off the brand as its connotating to us that the brand is big and famous as it has all the light shinning at the player and giving him strength. the light comes out from the huge big logos at the background that is giving the light to the full image as its dark on the back with no light at all. The lighting was targeted at the character in the central image that seems hard working by the help of the under armour brand. the logo lights directs at the man and the area as it also in huge white light and bright it cannotates to us that its the most important in the advert.

A - Actor placement and movement: The rugby player is in the central of the advert  the player also shows that he has so much power. his facial expression also shows that he is working hard as he is also screaming to show how strong he is as he is pushing the tyre.

M - Make up: The player's face is shining under the lights which makes it look like he is sweating and all water to show that he has worked hard on the workout he is doing .

P - Props: The tyre is significant because its in the middle of the image as it also looks giant and intimidating from its size .

S - Setting: The stadium setting suggests to the audience that this is getting all  the attention on the brand , logo and person in the studio it looks like the min aim in the image is about the only thing which is the logo as its everywhere in the image.

3) Look at Question 4. What is Todorov's theory of equilibrium? How does it link to the Audrey Hepburn Galaxy advert?
Todorov's theory of equilibrium, which are the equilibrium, disequilibrium and finally the new equilibrium. The equilibrium of this was when Audery Hepburn is happy as she is on her way in a bus to her journey. The disequilibrium of this is when the bus stops as her ride is distracted by the fruits as they fell  all over on the street in front of the bus which is now the villian the new equilibrium was when she got out of the bus as she took the bus driver is hat and put it on the  man and him her new chauffer as he drove her so she is now her own new hero.

4) What social class is Reveal aimed at? (Extension - what do the cover lines on Reveal suggest about what working class people are interested in?)

Reveal is aimed at lower class and working class people in London.Which are more interested in celebrities, gossip and drama even if it was real or fake.

5) Pick three cover lines from Tatler that reflect upper class British culture and society. Explain what they suggest about the lifestyle and beliefs of upper class British people.

"Oops all my clothes fell off"
"James Corden's LA life "
"she looks good in pearls"

These 3 cover lines suggest they are for upper class British people more as they could be attracted to new and expensive jewellery and clothing. Them talking about pearls suggest that they are trying to attract high class women as young, middle aged. The cover line of James Corden also tells us how the magazine could be modern and interesting this shows how they are also trying to fit in and keep up with the trends that's going on.
